Manos del Uruguay

Manos del Uruguay stands as a certified fair trade initiative, empowering rural women with a sustainable income. The undyed yarn is delivered to cooperative women in villages, where it undergoes hand-dyeing in kettle sizes of no more than 3 kilograms.

While color recipes are predetermined, the outcome varies based on the dyer, region, and environmental conditions such as season, humidity, and sunlight intensity during drying. These factors contribute to the uniqueness of each dyed skein, and in rare instances, even skeins from the same dye bath may exhibit differences. Therefore, it is crucial to purchase an ample quantity of these yarns and alternate between old and new skeins over a few rows when transitioning.

Importantly, all Manos del Uruguay yarns are inherently mulesing-free, aligning with ethical and sustainable practices.
